Dear Dick, Erik, Chad, Dirk's children (and grandchild), and the Extended Family:
Please accept my sincere sympathy for your loss. I will forever remember Dirk as kind, fun, and always smiling, even in difficult times. He got me interested in playing guitar, a passion I was then able to pass on to my own son. He got me hooked on the Steve Miller Band at a young age because "Fly Like an Eagle" was one of his anthems, he said, and would belt it out on the boat when he took us out on Lake Delta. He seemed to have a depth of soul and a care of others. At least that is how I remember him.
Your family will forever have an imprint on my heart -- the memories of my childhood include card games at the round table in the family room on that bright pink carpet, watching horror movies we shouldn't have been watching when our parents were in the other room having a few "toddies," and the numerous picnics and get-togethers at your house and ours: The Stropps, Stevens, Bobellas, and Johnsons. My childhood was made better because of all of you.
Much love to you; I will be thinking of you in the time ahead as you grieve and share memories of Dirk.
