Johnie Mae DeJean Johnie Mae De Jean, 80, of Rome, was called home to her Savior in the comfort of her own home on Sunday, December 13, 2020. Softly and gently in the calmness of morning God whispered, My good and faithful servant, Well done. She was born on February 2, 1940 in Linden, Alabama, a daughter of the late Dacey and Nicie Walker Richardson. Johnie was a member of the Greater Highway Deliverance Temple of Utica, N.Y. She cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her three daughters, Patricia (Lyn) Derrick, Utica, Diane (Alvin) De Jean, Rome and Cynthia Hawkins, Schenectady; two sons, Anthony (Doreen) De Jean Sr. and Kori (Amy) De Jean all of Rome; a sister, Beatrice Pearson, Utica; four brothers, James Ellis Richardson, Michigan, Charles David Richardson, Rayfield Richardson, Pastor James Lee Richardson all of Rome; sixteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Johnie was predeceased by two sisters, Mamie Douglas and Wille Mae Gleghorn; two brothers, Steve and George Richardson. Johnie Mae touched the lives of a lot of people with her stern spirit Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020 at 5 P.M. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 3- 5 P.M. prior to the service. Interment will take place in Rome Cemetery in the spring. Anyone planning to attend services is asked to please wear a face mask and adhere to social distancing requirements. Arrangements by Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome.
