Vescio Family.
Rich and I were so sorry to hear of Phil's passing. We have so many fond memories of time spent laughing with him whenever we would see him in or out of the restaurant. He was truly one of a kind!. Although Phil had many fine traits the one that stands out the most to us is his, and his families, unconditional generosity. He was always so kind and giving to us particularly when it came to donating to our Grandsons benefit golf tournaments. His generosity to so many in the Rome community touched many lives and he will never be forgotten because of it. Although I will not be attending the service because of Covid I will be at the mass to offer my respect and honor Phil's memory. Our thoughts and prayers are with the whole Vescio clan. Phil was truly a wonderful man and we will sorely miss him. May God watch and bless you all during this difficult time.

Dear folks,
I am so very sorry to hear of Phil's passing. I remember him fondly as a true gentleman, a devoted family man, and a savvy businessman.
There seemed to be a special bond between Phil and my dad, Joe Di Bella. Many nights after he closed the Franklin Hotel, Phil would stop by Di Bella's Uptown Market on his way home. I was a teenager at the time, and I remember Phil carried an old cigar box that he would set on the counter where I was doing my homework. One day he opened it and I saw that it was full of cash – his day's receipts!
Phil and my dad usually talked business, yet no topic was off-limits. Listening in on their conversations, I learned a lot about the world, and I developed a great regard for Phil because of the obvious mutual respect and affection between the two men.
After I moved away, every visit back included a stop at the Franklin Hotel for some serious comfort food and to check in on the Vescio family. Everybody was working – the boys in the kitchen with their dad, Carol at the register, and Mary everywhere at once. It felt like home.
To all the Vescio family, and to the friends who knew and loved Phil, I send my deepest sympathy.
