.Elise Aldridge Dargie, 86 of Rome, peacefully passed away on March 15, 2020 at the Bethany Gardens Skilled Living Center. She was born on July 31, 1933 in Rome. Elise was the daughter of Ellis and Mildred Evans Aldridge. On June 30, 1956 she was married to John D. Dargie in a ceremony which took place at the First United Methodist Church, Rome. John passed away October 14, 1983. Elise attended Rome schools and is a graduate of Oswego State Teachers College. She taught in Rochester and Holland Patent Central Schools. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Rome. Surviving is a daughter, Dr. Colleen Dargie and son-in-law David Roggenkamp of Farmington Hills, MI; two granddaughters, Susan Roggenkamp (Jessica DiFazio) of Niskayuna, NY and Karen Roggenkamp of Nashville, TN. Her twin brother Everett Aldridge of Rome; her niece Debra (James) Wurz of Whitesboro; her nephew’s wife Cindy Aldridge of Scotia. Elise was predeceased by her nephew Kevin Aldridge. The family would like to express their gratitude for the amazing care provided by the Bethany Gardens Skilled Living Center – particularly to Cliff, Mason and the rest of the 5th floor staff. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 400 North George St, Rome, NY 13440 or the charity of your choice. Unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus pandemic there will be no public calling hours and the funeral service on Thursday, March 19 at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home, 7751 Merrick Road, Rome will be private. Interment will take place in Townsend Cemetery, Floyd.
