Obituary of Frederick Witchley

Frederick C. Witchley, 82, of Rome, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2017, at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 1, 1935, in Rome, N.Y. a son of the late Phillip and Charlotte Morris Witchley. On June 25, 1955, Frederick was united in marriage to Elaine F. Durant, their marriage lasted 57 years, until Elaine's passing on January 12, 2013. Frederick was employed as a Tractor Trailer Driver with Concrete Delivery of Rome, until his retirement. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church of Rome. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Gary and Denise Witchley, Lee; a daughter, Joanne Henderson, Florida; a brother, James (Myrtle) Witchley; a sister-in-law, Karen Witchley; two brothers-in-law, Mel (Janice)Durant and James (Audrey) Durant; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Margo, Tyler, Cori, Monica, Jillian and David; six great grand children. Frederick was predeceased by a son, David Witchley; a brother, Enoch Witchley; two sisters, Nancy Miller and Ann Sewell. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017, at 2:00 P.M. at St. John the Baptist Church of Rome, with Fr. Paul Angelicchio officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, from 6-8 P.M. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home7751 Merrick Road, Rome. Burial will take place in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Oneida.
