Obituary of James K Mortis

James K. Mortis James K. Mortis, 70, of Rome, passed away on September 24, 2017, at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born on July 14, 1947, in Rome, N.Y. a son of the late James K. and Marjorie Cahaney Mortis. James was a graduate of R.F.A. Class of 1965, he went on to continue his education at Utica College. On December 4, 1971, he was united in marriage to Janice Bryan in St. Peter's Church, Rome. James was employed by Revere Copper and Brass in their Rolling Mill Department until his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Janice of Rome; a son, Jeremy Mortis; a daughter, Julie Mortis (Jaime Traverso), Rome; a sister Valerie Mario, Rome; three grandchildren, Miguel, Jenna and Kaylee; a niece Daryl (Tom) Perkins, Westchester; two nephews, Jeffrey (Stacie) Ferguson, Rome, Lorn Ferguson, Rome. He was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Anthony Mario. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday from 4-7 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Stokes
