Obituary of Ann Kahler

Ann Wiseman Kahler, 78, formerly of Rome, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2017 at Majestic Oaks Nursing Facility. Born November 9, 1938 in Edinburgh, Scotland, Ann was the daughter of William and Elizabeth Wiseman. She travelled to the U.S. at the age of 18. While visiting a pen pal in Rome, NY she met her husband of 53 years, the late Robert J. Kahler. She worked at several local businesses, including Rome Cable, Marine Midland Bank, Rose Hospital and Hummell's Office Supply. Ann is survived by daughter Heather Martin of Rome, NY; daughter and son-in-law Tracy and Gilbert Pearsol of Harrison City, PA; daughter Jody Kahler of Debary, FL; a brother and sister-in-law George and Anne Wiseman of Stockport, England; grandchildren Joseph Hawkins, Haley and Krista Pearsol; and nephews Andrew and Richard Wiseman. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Mangham. The family would like to extend special thanks to Vitas Hospice Care and the staff at Majestic Oaks for their care and support. Family and friends are invited to attend the calling hours on Friday, May 12, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home, 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. Funeral services are private.
