Obituary of Bertha J. Hall

Bertha J. Hall, 89, of Rome, passed away on May 31, 2017, at Rome Memorial Hospital. She was born on December 24, 1927 in Altmar, N.Y. a daughter of the late Lyman and Myrtle Pierce. Bertha attended M.V.C.C. and continued her education at Utica College receiving a Bachelors Degree. On June 5, 1945 she was united in marriage to Chalmer Hall in West Virginia. He passed away in March of 1978. Bertha was a member of the Grace Baptist Church and the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She was employed as a Teacher at the Annsville Youth Camp until her retirement. Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Miller of Rome; a granddaughter, Eugenia (Craig) Miller and grandson Bernie (Reginia) Miller; four great grandchildren, Sean, Ryan, Elizabeth and Amanda Miller; a niece and nephew Charlene and Arthur Pierce. Bertha was predeceased by a son Chalmer Hall Jr., a brother, Clifford Pierce, a nephew, Clifford Pierce Jr. and a granddaughter Eileene Miller. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association Central New York Chapter 441 West Kirkpatrick Street Syracuse, N.Y. m13204 Funeral services will be held on Monday June 5, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday from 4-7 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Rome Cemetery.
