Michael Anthony Occhipinti Sr.


 


   Michael A. Occhipinti Sr., 87, of Rome, passed away on November 2, 2024, at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born on February 27, 1937, in Rome, N.Y. a son of the late Salvatore and Kathryn Ventura Occhipinti. Michael attended Rome schools and was a graduate of Rome Free Academy Class of 1956. On December 4, 1965, he was united in marriage to Arlene Kessler in a ceremony which took place in St. John the Baptist Church of Rome. Michael was employed by the Rome State School prior to their closing, he then accepted a position with  Frank Brognano’s Limousine Service of Oriskany, N.Y. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church of Rome, long time member of Rome Country Club and in his younger year’s a member of the Rome Soft Ball League. Michaels true passion in life was spending time on the Links with family and friends.


   He is survived by his beloved wife, Arlene; two sons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Eleonora Occhipinti and Anthony Occhipinti all of Rome; a daughter, Kathy Dickinson of Sauquoit; a brother, Samuel Occhipinti of Rome; seven cherished grandchildren, Nolan, Nicholas, Emily, Arlena, Michael, Isabella and Gina. Michael was predeceased by two, sister-in-law, Sandy Kessler and Charlotte Hubal along with two brothers, Paul and Jack Kessler.

   Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, from 4-7 P.M. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, at 1 :30 P.M. at St. John the Baptist Church of Rome. Interment will take place in St. John’s Cemetery.
