Obituary of Deborah L. Martin

Deborah L. Martin, 72, of Rome, NY passed away on September 2, 2024. Born on May 25, 1952, in Newark, NY, she was the daughter of Jeanette Shaw. Following her graduation from high school Deborah had a successful career as a central sterilization specialist at Rome Hospital.

She was united in marriage to Ercell Mark “Marty” Martin in 1972, together they shared a blessed union until his passing in 2012. Deborah was a devoted mother and grandmother; she was proud of her family and enjoyed time spent with them. Deborah had a kind and gentle soul; her warm presence will be missed by all who knew her.

Deborah is survived by her mother, Jeanette Shaw of Hollywood, FL; daughters, Belinda Martin of Rome, NY and April (Jason) Wright of Maryland; sister Gloria Shaw; grandchildren, Tiffany and Brittany Arensman, Erica (Chris) Swope and Megan Wright, Tyler Burgio, and Jolee Martin; great grandchildren, Iridessa and Vatiro Burgio. She was predeceased by her husband, Ercell Mark “Marty” Martin; daughter, Sherri Arensman; sister, Karen Puzo; brother, Robert Shaw Jr.

In keeping with Deborah’s wishes there will be no public services. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home of Rome, NY.
