Donald D. Maskell, Jr.

1969 - 2024

Donald David Maskell, Jr., known to his loved ones as Donny, passed away on June 18, 2024, in Syracuse, NY, at the age of 55. He was born on February 6, 1969, in Rome, NY.

Donny worked in the carpenters union and other construction fields until he was disabled.

He found joy in sharing bike rides with his wife and spending quality time with his children. He was an animal lover, particularly his pups. He loved the thrill of speed and adventure. His true passion was his art, especially woodworking of all kinds. His favorite art was his wood burning.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Anne Messick Maskell, with whom he shared his life for 21 years, celebrating their marriage on June 20, 2015. He told her he won the wife lotto and got the best one. Donny will be deeply missed by his children; Donald Maskell III and his mother Julie Prather, Stephanie Maskell and her mother Carol Douglas, and Zackerhia Cowling and his mother Natasha Cowling. He is also survived by his mother, Diane Webb, his stepfather Calvin Webb, his brother Chris Web (Brandy), his sister Melissa Howard, and many special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Donny was preceded in death by his father, Donald Maskell Sr., and his sister, Sheila. .

Donny’s family will always cherish his wicked sense of humor, his love for fast-paced activities, and his adventurous spirit. 

Services for Donny will be held on Saturday June 22, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home, 7751 Merrick Rd, Rome, NY 13440. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. TO 1:00 p.m., prior to the service. The funeral home is assisting with the arrangements.
