Sharron Yoxall, 76, of Whitesboro, NY passed away peacefully on May 28,2024 at the Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Rome, NY, following a brief illness. In the final weeks of her life she was surrounded by family and visits from her best feline friend, “Crosby the Cat”. She was born in Utica, NY on February 1, 1948, the daughter of Alfred Zakris and Ida Mae Landry.

Sharron graduated from Westmoreland Central High School and continued her education taking classes at MVCC. Sharron had a successful career as an administrative professional. Her attention to detail and work ethic earned her employment opportunities at E. Cramer & Sons, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department, and the Oneida County Historical Society.

Sharron was united in marriage to Thomas E. Yoxall on December 2, 1967 at The Church of Annunciation, Clark Mills, NY. Together they created a beautiful life along with their two sons, Tom and Mike. They shared a blessed marriage of 49 years until Tom ‘s passing on October 2, 2016.

Sharron and Tom enjoyed traveling throughout New York state to watch their sons’ hockey games and tournaments, from youth hockey through college. They also loved watching NHL hockey and were avid Pittsburgh Penguin fans, so much so that they named their beloved feline companion “Crosby” after their favorite player, Sidney Crosby. The three of them never missed a game. Sharron cherished her role as a grandmother and enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren. She also took great pride in creating a beautiful and loving home, inside and out.

Sharron is survived by her sons Thomas (Kathleen) Yoxall and Michael (Jennifer Campos) Yoxall both of Rome; her brother Alfred “John” (Brooke) Zakris; sister and best friend Linda Pritchard; sister-in-law Mary Lou Berie; brother-in-law Edward Loftus, her caring friend and neighbor Naomi Fragale; her beloved grandchildren Thomas, Joseph, Margaret, Abigail, and Allidy; several nieces and nephews and Crosby, her beloved cat. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Yoxall; brothers-in-law Donald Yoxall, George Yoxall, Vinny Grasso, and John Fiore; sisters-in law Charlene Grasso, Gretchen Fiore, and Norma Loftus.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday June 1, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home, 7751 Merrick Rd. Rome, NY. Sharron will be laid to rest alongside her husband Thomas at The Westmoreland Union Cemetery.
