Obituary of David Edward Boisen

   David Edward Boisen, 78, of the town of Lee passed away peacefully at home on December 7, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Rome, New York on October 29, 1945, to the late Emerson and Florence Wood Boyson.  He was educated in the Rome schools graduating from Rome Free Academy in 1964. Dave proudly served his country in the Unites States Army during the Vietnam War.  He was honorably discharged in 1968 having earned the Bronze Star and Purple Heart award. 

   On October 3, 1970, he was united in marriage to the former Edith Maitland. Dave had a successful career at the Rome Postal Service as a Clerk and a Postal Carrier. After retirement from the postal service, he was employed by the First Baptist Church and Pitney Bowes in the mail room. Dave was a member of the First Baptist Church. He will be remembered for his generosity and deep faith in our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.

   Dave is survived by his loving wife and confidante of 53 years, Edith (Edie), sons, Eric (Stacy) Boisen of New Hartford, Hans (Kimberley) Boisen of the Town of Western, Timothy (Kristie) Boisen of Lee Center, Matthew (Sarah) Boisen of Lee Center, and daughter, Kristina (Robert) Ruppenkamp of Hampstead, N.C. Grandchildren, Felice and Francesca Boisen, Samantha (Ryan) Rogers, Bradley (Ashley) Boisen, Zachary, Brittany, Timothy Jr., Wyatt, Madison and Sawyer Boisen, Brady and Carter Ruppenkamp; Sister, Marjorie Ernest; brother, Gary (Michelle) Boyson; sisters-in-laws, Mollie Oram, Jane (Jay) Smith, Margie, (Mike) Szyper; brothers-in-law, Jay (Mary-Kay) Maitland, Roy (Kris) Maitland, Peter (Ezequiel) Maitland and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father-in-law Lewis Maitland; mother-in-law, Beatrice Maitland; brother, Jim Boyson; sister-in- law, Irene Boyson; sister-in-law, Judy Matt; brother-in-law, Bill Matt; brother-in-law, Mike Oram; sister-in-law Nancy Maitland and grandson, Mitchell Boisen.

   The family wishes to thank the VA Hospital in Syracuse for their care and compassion toward Dave and Hospice and Palliative care for their kindness and care in a difficult time.

   Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, from 4-7 P.M. and on Thursday from 10 A.M to 11 A.M. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home, 7751 Merrick Road, Rome, NY.  A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be held on Thursday at 11 A.M. at the funeral Home. Interment will take place in the spring in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery in Verona.
