Arden Ann Mumford

   Arden Ann Mumford, 79, of Rome, passed away peacefully at Rome Health following a brief illness. She was born on March 1, 1944, in Auburn, N.Y., a daughter of the late Frank and Barbara Campell Carmody. Arden was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School of Auburn, she earned her R.N. Nursing Degree at St. Joseph School of Nursing in Syracuse. Arden continued her education at The New School for Social Research of New York, where she received a master’s degree. On April 23, 1966, Arden was united in marriage to Harold C. Mumford in St. Alphonse Church of Auburn. Together they raised three children, Craig, Colleen and Laura. Arden was employed by Rome Memorial Hospital for over 35 years prior to her retirement. She was a compassionate caretaker whose nurturing spirit not only defined her career, but her dedication to her family. Arden was known for going above and beyond to ensure the well-being and happiness of her family members, especially her treasured grandchildren. She was a member of St. Paul’s and St. Joseph Church and an active member of the St. Joseph Church Women’s Club and Special Olympics. Arden loved reading, baking, gardening, playing the piano, and sharing in those joys with her loved ones.

   Arden is survived by a daughter, Laura O’Connor of Rome; a son, Craig Mumford of Rome; a son-in-law, Jack Armstrong of Penfield; one sister, Barbara Carmody (Patricia Brown) of Florida; a brother, Barry Carmody (Sandra Burkhart) of Auburn; four cherished grandchildren, Ryan and Emily Armstrong, Clancy Grace and Noah O’Connor. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Mumford; daughter, Colleen Armstrong and son-in-law, John “Jack” O’Connor.

   Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 11 A.M. at St. Paul’s Church of Rome. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hour from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the church prior to the service. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
