Robert P. Kozma


   Robert P. Kozma, of Rome, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2023, just shy of his 67th birthday at the Wynn Hospital in Utica with his loving family at his side. He was born on November 27, 1956, in Rome, NY, a son of the late John and Mary Groves Kozma. Robert was a graduate of Oriskany High School, following graduation he accepted a position with Canterbury Press of Rome as an Offset Platemaker. Upon the closing of Canterbury Press he then went to work for Remington Arms in Ilion, NY. He was a member of the Clinton Digital Radio Group of Ham Operators and former member of the Stanwix Volunteer Fire Dept. where he served as a Fire Fighter and member of their Drum and Bugle Corps. Robert was an amateur vintner who crafted award winning wines. One of his crafted wines took the gold medal at the N.Y. State Fair amateur wine crafting contest.


   He is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Kristin and Bobby Bridge of Waterville and Veronica Kozma of South Carolina; a brother, John (Carol) Kozma of Syracuse; two sisters, Mary Kay Porter of Glenville and Jetta (Thomas) Utesch of Clinton; four grandchildren, Madyson, MiKenzi, Mia and Brianna; one great grandchild, Teagan; a special friend, Merry Beth Nadeau of Oriskany Falls; and his feline companion, Harry. Robert was predeceased by a brother-in-law, James Porter.

   A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023, at 6 P.M. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4-6 P.M. prior to the service.
