Luann M. Jennings Obituary

Luann M. Jennings, age 63 of Rome, New York, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on October 12, 2023.  Luann had a huge zest for life and a fighting spirit that was determined to win a hard battle with pancreatic cancer.  She is predeceased by many family members including her parents, Louis and Helen Marquette Jennings; sister Patricia Magnanti and nephew Kevin Magnanti.  Luann is survived by her long time companion, Jon VanderPyl; sisters, Karen Pazdur, Joanne Mullen and Deborah (Tim) Lambert.; brothers, David Jennings, Mark (Sophie) Jennings and Jeffrey (Robin) Jennings; brother-in-law, James (Becky) Magnanti; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who were so very special to their "Aunt Wee Wee".  She is also survived by her dear aunts, Rosemary Roe, Millie Souva and Connie Jennings as well as numerous wonderful cousins. 


Luann was a member of St. Peter's Church in Rome.  She was self employed as a day care worker for many years and most recently was employed by the Rome City Schools as a teacher's assistant where she was lovingly known as "Miss Lulu".  She was very involved with The Relay for Life and worked with her family team "The Patty Melts" every year. She loved to be outside doing yard work at her home or one of her sibling's homes and loved to travel.


Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday October 25th from 4:00-6:00pm at the Strong, Burns and Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome NY, where a prayer service will be offered at 6:00pm with Fr. Thomas Durant officiating. Interment will be held privately in St. Peter's Cemetery, Rome, NY.
