Joshua J. Bach, 42, Rome New York’s go-to mechanic passed away after a brief battle with cancer on August 19, 2023, at Rome Health. Born in Saugerties, New York on December 31, 1980, he was a son of Stephen and Dolores Sauer Bach. After high school Joshua pursued a career as an auto mechanic, he had a natural talent and ability to diagnose and fix automobiles. He was everyone’s go to guy when it came to car troubles.

Joshua was united in marriage to Jennifer Smith on December 30, 2010; together they shared three children. Joshua enjoyed time spent with friends and family and will be missed by many.

He is survived by his wife Jennifer Smith Bach; a son Matthew Bach; daughters Paige Bach; and Alexis Schellerer; his parents Stephen and Delores Bach, mother-in-law Carrie Smith; brothers, Stephen (Shannon) Bach and Eric (Rebecca) Bach; grandmother, Gloria Sauer; sisters-in-law April Menard (Brian Stevens) and Jean and Edward Buchholz; aunts and uncles Susan (Matt) Thorne, Linda (John) Forrestall, Joanne Sauer, Stephen (Nina) Larson, Nancy (Ed) Short, Sharon Appollonia, Charles(Becky) Appollonia, Lester Appollonia, Jean Bach; several nieces, nephews along with great nieces and nephews.

Joshua was predeceased by his grandfather, Lars Sauer; grandparents, David and Jackie Bach; uncle, Mike Appollonia; father-in law, Albert Dean Smith.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, August 31, 2023, from 11:00am to 1:00pm, a funeral service will follow immediately at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home, 7751 Merrick Road, Rome, NY 13440. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery.
