Obituary of Arthur A. Arro

Please share a memory of Arthur to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

This life for Arthur A. Arro ended peacefully June 14, 2023 with wife Barbara at his side.  Art was born April 19, 1942 to Alexander and Elsa Arro(Mykra) who immigrated to this country over 100 years ago from Estonia and Finland respectively. He grew up in the South Bronx and with the early passing of his parents Art was on his own by 18.  He shared many “adventures” with lifelong friends Dean Spinei and John Konkola.  Art lifeguarded at Jones Beach, NY and a brief time in the military opened the door to his long career in image analysis. He travelled the world for business/pleasure and loved his model aircraft hobby.  His bachelor days ended May 24, 1980 when he began life with Barbara living more than 30 years in a lovely home with their cats in Holland Patent, NY.  Art retired from BAE Systems in 2012 and enjoyed his years of leisure.  Art’s friends at work, the airfield and elsewhere added much to his life.

In addition to Barbara, Art is survived by niece Anna-Liisa Messier(Mark),  their children Eric(Heather), Kevin and Kirsten .  Also continuing on are his great nieces Angela(Ben)Larsen, Erin(Abel)White, Lana Nash, brothers in law Charles(Cindy)Loeber, William Loeber and sister in law Anita Snyder with their families.

Art has joined his parents, brother Albert and sister in law Helen Arro, niece and nephew Linda and John Arro and cousin Ron Sinkannen who passed before him.

Arrangements are through Strong Burns & Sprock Rome, NY.  Please consider a donation in Art’s memory to the Academy of Model Aeronautics Scholarship Fund at https://www.modelaircraft.org/donate
