Sherrill I. Way

Sherrill I. Way 64, of Rome, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on May 19, 2023. She was born in Utica, N.Y. on December 28, 1958, a daughter of the late Francis and Lois Rood Mashtare. Sherrill attended Beautician School in Utica, to be a cosmetologist. For over 25 years, Sherrill was united in marriage to her loving husband Keith J. Way. Her true passion in life was being a homemaker, Sherrill truly enjoyed raising her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an animal lover and was very fond of her dog Roxy and her parakeets. Sherrill loved to paint and work on puzzles. She never turned down a chance to go play bingo, her family and friends will always remember her as a jokester, they will certainly miss her contagious laugh.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Keith J. Way; three sons, Joseph Mashtare and Fiancee Sarah Sochia, Rome, Sean Collard and Raeleen Collard, FL and Christopher Fuller Jr. of Utica; daughters, Heather Leigh and Fiance John Elmer of Rome, Desiree Rice and Fiance Joshua Last of Madison, Nicole Collard (Marvin Swift) of Utica; two brothers, Russ and Richard "Skip" Mashtare; a sister, Francine Rice; twenty grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Sherrill was predeceased by two brothers, Francis and John Mashtare; a sister Jean Mashtare Windover and grandson, Cody Collard. 

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday May 25, 2023, from 4-6 P.M. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. Funeral services  will be held on Friday May 26th, 2023, at 10 A.M. at the funeral Home. A celebration of Life will be held at the familys home following interment.
