Dr. Francesco G. Cotronea


   Dr. Francesco G. Cotronea, 96, of Bradenton, Florida and formerly of Rome, N.Y. passed away peacefully on April 6, 2023, with his loving family by his side. He was born on January 20, 1927, in San Pietro di Carida, Italy, a son of the late Carmelo and Antonietta Migliardi Cotronea. Francesco graduated medical school from the University of Naples and came to the United States for his residency. On March 4, 1957, he was united in marriage to Rosalie Sasileo. Rosalie predeceased Francesco on August 11, 1999. Francesco was employed as the Medical Director of the Rome Developmental Center for over twenty years, he also established a private practice here in Rome. He was an avid traveler and truly enjoyed the outdoors, skiing, snowmobiling, hunting, water skiing, boating, golfing etc.,  and especially spending time with his cherished family,  friends and his amazing Labradors on Lake Delta as well as an occasional martini or a nice glass of Italian wine. Francesco was a Life Member of the American Psychiatric Association, New York State Psychiatric Association, and Teugega Country Club.


   He is survived by his beloved children, Rose Cotronea Fecteau and husband, Dr. James Fecteau, Wisconsin, Dr. Anthony Cotronea and wife, Dr. Nicoletta Tallandini Cotronea, Carlo and wife Patricia Fletcher Cotronea, all of Rome; a brother and sister-in-law, Antonio and Elizabetta Cotronea, Roma, Italy; a sister, Rosa Pennisi ,Reggio Calabria,  Italy; a sister-in-law, Titina Cotronea, San Pietro di Carida, Italy; four grandchildren, Michael, Andrew, Carlo and Emily; one great grandchild, Elena; along with several nieces and nephews. Francesco was predeceased by two brothers, Nicola and Dr. Fortunato Cotronea.


  The family would like to give special thanks to Sitrin Health Care Center; Dr Chase, Dr Pylman, nurse Taylor, Hallie and all the wonderful and caring staff.


  He will be so greatly missed. He will live on through his family, friends, our cherished memories and always and forever in our hearts.


   A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at 11 A.M. at St. Peter’s Church of Rome. There are no calling hours. Interment will take place in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
