Obituary of Theresa M. Coluccio

Theresa M. Coluccio, 97, formerly of Rome, passed away February 27, 2023,in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. Born June 3, 1925, she was a daughter of Dominick and Rose (Maio) Gulla. After attending Rome City School, she married August Colangelo with whom she  shared two children. After his death, she married Rocco Coluccio with whom she enjoyed a wonderful life until his passing.

Theresa worked at Goldbergs Department Store and as a file clerk and switchboard operator at Rome Sentinel and later as a receptionist at Rome Medical. In between her busy schedule, Theresa always made time for her family and friends. Theresa was very close to her family often getting together to play cards and visit.  She was an excellent cook, especially her Sunday dinners. Everyone looked forward to  Aunt Theresa’s pizzelles.

Theresa leaves behind a son, Ronald Colangelo and his wife Joan, of Port St. Lucie, Fl; a daughter, Barbara Morris, of New York City; and grandchildren, Mark (Holly) Colangelo, Michael (Christy) Colangelo, Tyler (Jenette) Shields; great grandchildren: Nick, Cody, Connor, Aiden, and her great-grandaughter, Reagan; as well as several very loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Theresa was predeceased by her sisters Mary Rosello and Angie Taverna, her brothers Jerry, Frank, Gregory, Orlando, and nephews, Mickey, Jimmy and Michael Gulla.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place 1:00 PM on Friday March 3, 2023, at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E Dominick St, Rome, NY 13440. The family will receive guests following the service.

Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery of Rome, N.Y.
