Obituary of Juanita B. Jenkins

Juanita B. Jenkins, 88, of Rome, New York entered the arms of her Savior on February 15, 2023. Born in Pawleys Island, South Carolina she was the daughter of the late Joseph Blye and Lucille Edwards Blye. Juanita was united in marriage to James “J.J.” Jenkins whom she shared a wonderful life with until his passing in 2011.

 Juanita was a caseworker at the Oneida County Community Action Agency where she received many awards and accolades for her outstanding service to the Rome community. She was a wonderful advocate for many individuals and families.  She worked closely with the Mayor Brown’s Office, Rome Police Department, State Representatives, Lawyers, and Doctors.  Juanita was a personal friend of Senator Joseph Griffo. She was an active member of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Rome. Juanita enjoyed time spent with her family and friends, especially her children and grandchildren, as well as, her nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Juanita is survived by her two daughters, Lonnie “Bernard” Moore of Georgia, Louise Bryan of Rome; grandchildren James and Joshua Bailey of Colorado; her beloved nieces and nephews, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband JJ; her son James Jenkins Jr.; daughters Cheryl Jenkins and Lisa Jenkins.

A celebration of life will be held at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 203 Erie Blvd E, Rome, NY 13440 on Saturday March 4, 2023, at 12 P.M. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in the Spring.
