Arthur met Ruth Kipfer at a dance in the local Grange Hall. They both loved to dance and religiously followed the various polka bands . A year later they were married in Trinity United Church of Christ on June 20, 1953. Since marrying into the church family, Arthur became an active church member serving on council, acting as a Church ambassador, and singing in the choir.
Arthur had an active social life as well. Memberships included: Trenton Fish and Game Club, Masonic Lodge, Camden Seniors, Steuben Lodge and the Westernville choir. He loved to hunt, fish, travel, snowmobile and spend time at their family camp at Henderson Harbor.
Arthur served in the National Guard. He worked at Rome Cable for 34 years then an additional 10 years at Rome Agway. In addition to his regular jobs he spent many early morning hours plowing snow for his brother in law, Albert Kipfer.
