John A. Marmol Jr. John A. Marmol Jr., 82, of Rome, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2022, at Rome Health, following a long illness. He was born on April 1, 1939, in Rome, N.Y. a son of the late John Sr. and Salvadora Ballester Marmol. John enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country from 1956 to 1960. On October 12, 1963, John was united in marriage to Carol Allen in a service which took place in Transfiguration Church of Rome. John worked as a Truck Driver for the Rite Aid Distribution Center and several other trucking agencies prior to his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking and making candles. He loved spending time in Old Forge with his family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife Carol; a son, John A. Marmol III (Katelyn Varano) Rome; three daughters, Christine Marmol Avery (Scott), Rome, Donna Marmol (Matthew Gregg) Rome, Kathy Marmol (Jason Saville) Rome; a sister, Juanita Blaylock, Bridgeport; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by a daughter, Juanita Marmol; five sisters, Julia Emeterio, Anita Russitano, Lola Buttacavoli, Elane James and Ophelia Marmol; a brother, Richard Marmol. Funeral services with Military Honors will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022, at 6 P.M. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. Calling hours 3-6 P.M. prior to the service.
