Obituary of Janice Mortis

Janice B. Mortis Janice B. Mortis, 72, of Rome, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2022, at The Grand Nursing Home in Rome. She was born on September 25, 1949, in Rome, N.Y. a daughter of the late Wilfred and Lois House Bryan. Janice attended Rome Schools and was a member of St. Peter’s Church. On December 4, 1971, she was united in marriage to James K. Mortis Jr. James predeceased Janice on September 24, 2017. Janice was employed by the Rome D.D.S.O. prior to her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her two children; Julie Mortis (Jaime Traverso) and Jeremy Mortis all of Rome; two sisters, Arlene (John) Cordsen and Sheila Woods; a sister-in-law, Valerie Mario; three cherished grandchildren, Miguel, Jenna and Kaylee; several nieces and nephews. Janice was predeceased by two brothers, Denny and Lowell Bryan; two brothers-in-law, Tony Mario and Larry Woods. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at 7 PM at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. Calling hours 4-7 PM prior to the service. Interment Evergreen Cemetery.
