David Westbrook Sr
David Westbrook Sr, 82, of Floyd, went home to be with the Lord on January 3, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. He was born on May 17, 1939, in Americus, Georgia, a son of the late Eddie and Adrilla Paschal Westbrook. On May 20th, 1956, David enlisted in the United States Army, where he graduated from the 82nd Airborne Division Jump School. He was then assigned to the 1st Airborne Battle Group 503rd Infantry. Upon returning home from the service, David went on to earn an Associate Degree from MVCC Community College. On May 19th, 1962, he was united in marriage to Lillian Rita Hughes in Albany, N.Y. For over 35 years, David was employed by the Marcy Psychiatric Center in Marcy, NY as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, until his retirement. He was a member of the First Tabernacle Pentecostal Christian Center.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lillian of Floyd; a daughter, Davita Westbrook of Boston, MA; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Nicole Westbrook of Fuquay Varina, NC, Derek and Catara Westbrook of Niskayuna, NY; three sisters, Jennie Young, Deloris Berry and Regina Westbrook, all of Holyoke, MA; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Eugene Westbrook, Rome, NY; Vincente and Angela Westbrook, Holyoke, MA; Albertha Westbrook, Springfield, MA; three cherished grandchildren, Lyric Westbrook, Zion Westbrook and Zen Westbrook. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews and godchildren. David was predeceased by sisters, Rose Etta Edwards, Ula Mae Hall, Coretha Janas and Lorraine Westbrook; and brother, Eddie Westbrook.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr Dilip Kachare, Dr Felix Oduwa, the nursing staff of the 4th floor IMCU at St Elizabeth Medical Center, Dr Mark Blaker, Dr Hugh MacIsaac and the staff of CNY Cardiology, Dr Jerry Sloan and Dr Andrew Pellechia.
Funeral services are private and there will be no calling hours. Burial with Military Honors will take place at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
