Marjorie Burk, age 95, of Oriskany, passed away on November 10, 2021, at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was born May 15, 1926, in Oriskany to George and Sara Davis Peek. Marjorie, a lifelong resident of Oriskany, graduated from Oriskany Central School. Marjorie was united in marriage to Emil Burk in Verona on September 10, 1949; a blessed union of 56 years until his passing in 2005. Marjorie worked many jobs outside of her home, A&P, Utica State Hospital and H. Waterbury & Sons in Oriskany where she worked as a seamstress until retirement. Marjorie loved to garden, bake and always cooked and hosted holiday dinners. She and Emil were avid antique collectors. Marjorie is survived by her daughter and spouse Karen and Danny Town of Rome; son Larry and spouse Kelly Burk of Leesburg, VA; grandchildren Jennifer and Richard Mellini, Brendan Burk, Tom and Brianna Burk, Jeremy Burk and Justin Burk and daughter-in-law Mine’ Veral-Burk. Great-grandchildren Sammy Burk, Maggie Jo Burk, Gianna Mellini and Devin Mellini. She is also survived by special nephews Brad Herman, Woody Herman, and Tom Peek, and special nieces Margaret Morse and Ginny Saville, and cousin, Richard Bedner who called and visited. Marjorie was predeceased by her husband Emil Burk, son Alan Burk, parents George and Sara Peek and brothers and sisters George Peek, Glen Peek, Will Peek, Louise Herman, Eloise Meyers and Ruth Ashley, also several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to Feed Our Vets, 587 Main Street, New York Mills, NY 13417, Rome Rescue Mission, 413 E. Dominick Street, Rome, NY 13440 or Oriskany Museum, 420 Utica Street, Oriskany, NY 13424. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the Oriskany Cemetery in Oriskany, NY.
