Gloria L. Phillips Gloria L. Phillips, 79, of Rome, passed away on September 20, 2021, at the Grand Nursing Home in Rome. She was born on January 25, 1942, the daughter of the late William and Ella Lighthall Foley. She attended Rome schools and on January 20, 1962, she was united in marriage to Melvin Phillips in a ceremony which took place at the Salvation Army Citadel in Rome. Melvin predeceased Gloria on October 10, 2003. For over 22 years Gloria was employed by Rome Memorial Hospital as a Housekeeper. Gloria was a member of the Home League of the Salvation Army and enjoyed reading the Bible in her spare time. She is survived by a son, Charles Phillips of Rome; a daughter and son-in-law, Thelma and Gerald Stone of Virginia; three sisters, Beatrice Mascolo, Sandra (David) Payne and Robin Foley all of Rome; Four grandchildren, Kelley (Matthew) Cuccia, Joshua Stone, Ashley (Shane Lloyd) Stone; great grandchildren, Quentin, Ian, Ashlyn, Kelsey, Dominick Cuccia and Del Mario Stone; great- great grandchildren, Alison Stone and Harmony Paige. Gloria was predeceased by a brother, William Foley; a granddaughter, Jerri Ann Stone and great grandchild, Darrien Stone. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 27, 2021, at 1 PM at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 11Am to 1 PM prior to the service. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Stokes.
