Obituary of Emily P. C. Russell

Emily P. C. Russell Emily P. C. Russell, 93, of Spring Hill, Florida, passed away peacefully, on August 13, 2021, surrounded by her family at the home of her daughter, Emily Kirk on Point Rock Road in Taberg, N.Y. She was born on June 3, 1928, in Rome, N.Y. a daughter of the late Russell and Emily Trinka Proper. Emily was educated in Rome Schools and attended the Delta Methodist Church of Lee. On August 28, 1945, Emily was united in marriage to Nelson W. Crawford in the First Baptist Church, Rome. Nelson predeceased Emily on February 1, 1987. Emily went on to marry James Russell on October 26, 1996, in Ava, N.Y. James predeceased Emily on June 11, 1997. For over 30 years, Emily was employed by the Rome D.D.S.O. as a Therapy Aide until her retirement in 1984. Emily was active with the Girl Scouts in her younger years, serving as a Brownie Leader, after she moved to Florida, Emily became a Hospice Volunteer, serving families during their time of need. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Emily and Richard Kirk, Taberg; stepchildren, Roy and Mary Russell, Ann and Steve Hart, Lynn and Jenny Russell; a brother, Russell Proper; a sister-in-law, Nora Proper; nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and fourteen great- great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; along with a special friend Dianna Johnson. Emily was predeceased by a son, Nelson Crawford II; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancey and Richard Henderson; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Martin, Joseph, Lawrence and Arlene Proper; a sister, Evelyn Storms; special friend, Barbara Dodd Emily’s family would like to thank Melissa Foster, Tammy Harris and the entire staff of Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Emily. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, N.Y. 13413 A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at 2 P.M. at Rome Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, from 11:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. at Strong -Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome.
