Robert E. Wilson

Robert E. Wilson 80, of Rome, passed away on August 11, 2021, at Betsy Ross Nursing Home. He was born on December 6, 1940, in Rome, N.Y. a son of the late William and Mildred Theobald Wilson. Robert attended Rome Schools and upon graduation from High School he enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served his country while being stationed in Korea. Prior to his retirement Robert worked as a Armed Security Guard in Albany N.Y. He was a member of the Mc Keever Rats and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by two brothers, Butch and Calvin; two sisters, Mary Welch and Barbara Wilson; a special niece, Nicole Lighthall. Robert was predeceased by four brothers, Morris, William Jr., Kenneth and David Wilson; a sister, Sharon Wilson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at 2 P.M. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home, 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. Calling hours 12-2 P.M. prior to the service. Interment with Military Honors will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Stokes.
