Antoinette V. Magnanti, 93, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2021, at Bethany Gardens Nursing home, following a brief illness. She was born on February 14, 1927, in Rome NY, a daughter of the late Pasquale and Antoinette Mungari. Antoinette was a graduate of Rome Free Academy and was formerly employed by the Rome State School. On August 10, 1946, she was united in marriage to August L. Magnanti, in a ceremony which took place in St. John the Baptist Church of Rome. This blessed union lasted 70 years, until August’s passing on April 22, 2016. Antoinette attended both St. Peter’s Church and St. John the Baptist Church. She loved to read and spend time with her family, and on occasion would test her luck at Turing Stone Casino. Antoinette was an excellent cook, who made every holiday memorable. She will be truly missed by her sons. She is survived by her cherished sons, Augie and Maylene Magnanti, James and Rebecca Magnanti, all of Rome; grandchildren, James (Jamie), Marci (Hector), Michael (Rachael) and Alyssa; great grandchildren, Megan, Morgan, Nicholas, Mylee, Augie, Michael Jr. and Rocco; along with several beloved nieces and nephews. Antoinette was predeceased by a daughter -in-law, Patty Magnanti and grandson Kevin Magnanti; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Anna (Gaetano) LaGatta, Carol (Benny) Garofalo; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas (Barbara) Mungari, Dominick (Sally) Mungari, Joseph (Isabel) Mungari and Vincent (Florence) Mungari. Funeral services are private and there are no calling hours. Interment will take place in St. John’s Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements by Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome.
