Joseph J. Preski Jr. 68, of Rome, passed away peacefully, on December 7, 2020, at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 18, 1951, a son of Joseph and Carmella Pezzula Preski. Joseph attended Rome Free Academy and went on to enlist in the United States Army, where he proudly served his country. On May 27, 1978, he was united in marriage to Kimberly Evans, in a ceremony which took place in St. Joseph’s Church, Lee Center N.Y. Joseph was formerly employed by Rome Cable and J.B. Hunt of Johnstown. He was a member of the American Legion of Rome. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kimberly; his mother, Carmella Preski; a daughter and son-in-law, Kristina and Rex Mazur, Rome; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Stacy Preski, Clarksville, TN, William and Jessica Preski, Russellville, KY; a sister, Marie (Kenneth) Perlman; two brothers, Gary (Sybil) Preski, and Michael Preski; ten grandchildren, Isabella, Lily, Jakob, Kaylee, Alana, Jenna, Amelia, Arianna, Jaycie and Scarlett; one great granddaughter, Oliva. Funeral services with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at 6 P.M. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 3-6 P.M. prior to the service. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Rome. Anyone planning to attend services is asked to please wear a face mask and adhere to social distancing requirements.
