Carmel Ann (DeSimone) Herrin
Carmel Herrin, 70, of the Town of Lee, passed away on November 3, 2020, with her loving family at her side. She was born in Rome, N.Y. on August 20, 1950, a daughter of the late Michael and Carmela Sparace DeSimone. Carmel was employed by Rome Memorial Hospital as an IT Computer Specialist until her retirement. She later went on to work for her niece at Mohawk Valley Materials. Carmel was a member of the St. John the Baptist Church and Rome Christian Center. She was a devoted servant to the Lord. Carmel was an active member of her church, participating in the Bread of Life Prayer Group and Life Teen. In her free time, she loved to golf and go to the gym. She was passionate about helping others, spending time with family, and dedicating her life to the Lord. Carmel spent her time traveling between Florida and New Jersey to visit her children and grandchildren. They will always cherish the fond memories they created while vacationing with Carmel in Disney World.
Carmel will be greatly missed by her cherished children, Michael and Kimberly Herrin, Florida; Denise and Mark Lanzi, N.J., two sisters, Carol (David) Hayes and Judy(Gary) Capoccia, all of Rome; two brothers, Julius (Cecelia) DeSimone, Rome and Anthony (Laura) DeSimone, IL; seven grandchildren, Tara (Brad), Gage, Sophia, Emily, Raymond, Bailey and Jared; two great grandchildren, William and Logan, and dear friend David Jennings. Carmel was predeceased by a brother Michael DeSimone and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane and David Holdbrook.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Church, Rome. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday from 4-7 P.M. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. Anyone planning to attend is asked to please wear a face mask and adhere to social distancing requirements. Interment will take place in St. Johns Cemetery.
