Obituary of Paul C. Pfeiffer

Paul C. Pfeiffer Paul C. Pfeiffer, 80, of Rome, passed away unexpectedly on August 5, 2020 at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 19, 1939 in Rome, a son of the late Clayton and Ethel Landray Pfeiffer. Paul was a graduate of R.F.A. Class of 1957. While in high school, Paul participated in cross country and wrestling. After graduation, Paul enlisted in the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country from 1957-1966. Paul was a dog trainer in the military, training dogs for combat in Vietnam. On November 20, 1971 Paul was united in marriage to Janet Rush, in a ceremony which took place in Camden, N.Y. Paul was employed at Griffiss A.F.B. as a Security-Police Officer for over 25 years. Parents and children will also remember Paul as the School Crossing Guard at Ganesvoort Elementary School in Rome. Paul was a member of Philanthropic Lodge #164 of Camden and the American Legion of Albany. He loved to play tennis with his good friend Ken and watch the Buffalo Bills. Paul loved being in the outdoors, he will be remembered as a skilled trapper and outdoorsman. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet of Rome; two children, Paul Jr. (Aimee) Pfeiffer of Macedon, Amy (Grady) DeWitt, Johnson City, TN; three grandchildren, Grace and Rose Pfeiffer, Chloe DeWitt; two nephews, Paul (Shelia) Pelton and their children, Doug (Kristen) Pelton. Paul was predeceased by a sister Bonnie Fowler. Memorial contributions may be made to Fort Stanwix-Disabled AM Vets 407 East Dominick Street, Rome N.Y. 13440 or the Vietnam Veterans of America 8719 Colesville Road, Suite 100, Silver Springs, MD 20910 Funeral services are private and there are no calling hours. Interment with Military Honors will take place in Lee State Cemetery,Lee. Arrangements by Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome.
