Obituary of Laurance H. Meyer

Laurance H. Meyer Laurance H. Meyer, 92, of Lee, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2020, at the Katherine Luther Residential Health Care Center in Clinton. He was born on September 18, 1927 in Rome, N.Y. a son of the late Harry and Ruth Hossfelt Meyer. In July of 1945, Laurance enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly served his country. On August 30, 1952, Laurance was united in marriage to Nettie Neiss. Nettie passed away in 2005. Laurance, after returning from the service accepted a position with M.J. Engelbert & Brothers, as a Watch Repairman and Jewelry Maker. He also worked for the N.Y. Central Railroad before going to work at Revere Copper & Brass as a Electrician, until his retirement. Laurance was a former member of the Lee Methodist Church. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Laurance and Maryanne Meyer II of Florida; two daughters and one son-in-law, Bronwyn (Jeffrey Leet) Thompson, Rome, Muriel and Greg Emery, Lee; a sister, Elise Recor, Florida; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Laurance was predeceased by a brother, Donald Meyer. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Monday, June 22, 2020 at 11: A.M. at Lee Valley Cemetery, Lee. Anyone who wishes to attend is asked to please wear a face mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines. Funeral arrangements by Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome.
