Obituary of Charlotte E. Martzloff

Please share a memory of Charlotte to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Charlotte E. (Chi) Martzloff, 94, of Jewell, NY lost her battle with Alzheimer's disease on Friday, May 29, 2020, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Rome, NY March 15, 1926, the daughter of Edward and Frances (Smith) Perry. She married Arthur J, Martzloff August 26, 1944. She was known to most as Chi and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren all fondly called her “Mama.” She is survived by two daughters, Cindy (Don) Freson and Tammy (Dominick) Maio; five grandchildren Jeffrey (Susan) Mitchell, Traci (John) Mitchell, Jon (Shelby) Mitchell, David (Kim) Freson, and Don (Nadine) Freson; and seven great-grandchildren, Matthew, Daniel, Alya, Jacob, and Samuel Mitchell; Michael and Katie Freson. She is also survived by her sister Mary Conover and many cherished nieces and nephews. Charlotte was predeceased by her dear husband of 52 years, Art, on May 21, 1996; her parents and her siblings, Edna Ammon, Frank Perry, Eddie Perry, and Betty Smith. Thank you to all the kind, compassionate souls at the Masonic Care Community and elsewhere who laughed with her, sang with her, sat with her, and provided comfort, dignity, and respect while she gracefully and courageously fought her debilitating illness. We are comforted to know that "Mama" knows who "Mama" is again. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Central New York Chapter, 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204 or Masonic Care Community of New York, 2150 Bleecker St., Utica, NY 13501. Due to the pandemic, funeral services are private and there are no calling hours. Interment will take place in Rome Cemetery. Arrangements by Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home, 7751 Merrick Road, Rome, NY.
