Obituary of Joseph Crouth

Joseph A. Crouth Joseph A. Crouth, 90, of Rome, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2020, at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing in Rome. He was born on November 5, 1929, in Rome, NY, a son of the late Joseph and Merna Dunn Crouth. Joseph attended St. Aloysius Academy and served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. On January 2, 1954, Joseph was united in marriage to Joanne Ierley in a service at St. Peter’s Church, Rome. For over 30 years, Joseph was employed at the Rome State School as a Therapy Aide. He was a patient, gentle, and quiet man who had a heart about the size of a mountain. He is survived by his loving wife, Joanne Crouth, Rome; two sons, Gary Crouth, Pittsburgh, PA and Jerry Crouth, Rome; a sister, Nancy Boughton, Tarpon Springs, FL; three brothers, David Crouth, Richfield Springs, NY, Lawrence Crouth, Rome and Jerry Crouth, Ballston Spa, NY; four grandchildren, Jasmin, Brennan, Eric, and Brandon; four great grandchildren, Zachary, Gage, Jillian, and Syla; along with several nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by a brother, John “Pete” Crouth Sr. Funeral services are private and there are no calling hours. Arrangements by Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome.
