Obituary of Lyle Peaslee

Lyle Roger Peaslee, 82, of Rome passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on September 1, 2019.

Born July 27, 1937 in Kirkwood, NY, son of the late Jesse Peaslee and Angelia Ludwig Peaslee. He graduated from Haverstraw High School in 1955 and served our country in the United States Air Force. He married Karen L. Davis on April 22, 1961, and moved to Rome, NY. They raised their family and created a loving home, where many happy memories were shared for over five decades.

He worked 29 years at Rome NewChannels where he was a technician who helped build the cable network in the city of Rome and its suburbs. He enjoyed woodworking, watching Match Game, taking long car rides in the country, vegetable gardening, listening to country music, and eating ice cream and his own home-grown popcorn. It has been said he single-handedly financed Stewart's expansion through ice cream purchases. He and Karen also enjoyed square dancing with their friends.

He was preceded in death by Karen, his loving wife of almost 55 years. He was predeceased by 2 brothers and 2 sisters and is survived by a sister, Joyce Lewis, of Canandaigua, NY, 3 children, daughter Paula and husband John Stafford of Oneonta, son Randall Peaslee of Denver, CO, daughter Marianita and husband John Staley of Clinton, NY, 3 cherished grandchildren who lovingly called him ”Botka”, Karica and husband Derek Harner, Joshua Stafford and wife Sarah, and Lucciana Amodio. He is survived by sister-in-law, Juanita Tyler and her companion, Allan Chrysler of Rome, niece, Betty Tyler and husband Kelvin Carney and children, cousins Anne Kurtz, and Dawn & Joe Swistak, as well as many additional cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Special thank you to Jim Page, Roger’s PT buddy, and his wife Peg who were loyal friends and neighbors.

A very special thank you to his Oncology Team at Bassett Herkimer Cancer Center: Dr. Marcy Canary, Dr. James Leonardo, Kriss Allen, Michelle Sweet, and Arlene Ferri, who always made him feel special. “Roger That”
