Margaret Mary Vlasko House, 96, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at Bethany Gardens Skilled Nursing Center. Margaret was born on March 27, 1922 in Clark Mills, NY, the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary McEaney Vlasko. She married Forrest Max "Red" House on November 26, 1949. Her beloved husband of 65 years, he passed away December 21, 2014. She was employed at Griffiss Air Force Base for several years prior to raising her six children. An accomplished seamstress, Margaret made most of her children's clothes. She enjoyed canning vegetables, making homemade pickles, baking various types of Christmas cookies each year, and listening to Polka music. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Rome Polish Home, and the South Rome Senior Center. Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by six loving children, Judith Davis, Rome; Kathleen (Norman) Bramley, Clark Mills; Suzanne (Brian) Hemming, Rome; Ronald (Mary) House, Rome; Donald House and Estella Steacy, Rome; and MaryAnn (Michael) Abate, Falls Church, VA; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson. She was predeceased by a grandson, Steven M. Davis; two brothers, William and Donald Vlasko; and a sister, Rita Marquette. Heartfelt thanks are extended to the 3rd floor staff at Bethany Gardens for their wonderful care and compassion. Private funeral services will be held at Strong-Burns and Sprock Funeral Home. Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebratory Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 on Saturday, February 23rd at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Rome, NY. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions in her name to Huntington's Disease Society of America, 505 Eighth Ave Suite 902, New York, NY 10018 or St Peter's Catholic Church.
