Marlene E. Sharron Marlene E. Sharron, 82, of Rome, passed away unexpectedly on February 14, 2019, at Rome Memorial Hospital. She was born on February 13, 1937, in Boonville, N.Y. a daughter of the late Frederick and Ethel Williams Duvelow. Marlene was employed by the Family Inns of Rome as a cook, until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time in her backyard with her flowers and dog Lucky. She had a green thumb when it came to her blooming rose bushes, not to mention she was a master at jigsaw puzzles. She is survived by her loving companion, Lyle Evans, Rome; a son and daughter-in-law, Bert and Amy Sharron, Florence; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Paul Schilling, Rome, Michelle and Kevin McGarry, Pompey; eight grandchildren, Michelle (Mike) Wood, Brianne (Louie) Manna, Kristy (Michael) Smith, Dustin Sharron, Curtis Sharron, Amber (Zackary) Luhr, Tara McGarry and Matthew McGarry; along with several great grandchildren. Marlene was predeceased by two sisters, Marjorie Duvelow and Betty Dalla; and a brother, Arthur Duvelow. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Rome Humane Society, 6247 Lamphear Rd, Rome N.Y. 13440 Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 18, 2019, at 7:15 P.M. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4-7 P.M. prior to the service. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery in the spring.
