Obituary of Jon S. Veeder

Jon S. Veeder passed away January 17, 2019 in the comfort of his own
home with his loving family and best friends by his side.

Jon was born in Amsterdam on July 11, 1945 to the late Howard and Grace (Ellis)
Veeder. He grew up one of eight siblings in a large loving family. After Jon finished
high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served his country
for over 29 years. It was during this period of time, that he met the love of his life,
Barbara, and they married and started a family of their own.

Jon loved to golf and he was also a master carpenter. He constructed and
designed most of the furniture in their home. Jon was also a proud member of
the Rome Chief’s Group and the American Legion. What he was most proud of
though was his family, his children and grandchildren. Jon could be found at every
sporting event and extracurricular activity in which his grandchildren participated,
he was their biggest fan.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (King) Veeder; his children Theresa
(Veeder) Billington and her husband Kevin, Keith Veeder and his fiancé Crystal; his
grandchildren Seth and Kathryn Billington, Piper Veeder; his siblings, Bruce and
Ruth; and a large loving extended family. Jon was predeceased by both of his
parents, and siblings George and wife Betty, Gerald, Brian, Harriet, and Rebecca.

All are invited to call on Friday, January 25 from 4-6 PM at the Strong-Burns and
Sprock Funeral Home at 7751 Merrick Rd, Rome.
