Michael S. Zerbe Michael S. Zerbe, 66, of Rome, passed away unexpectedly on November 27, 2018, at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 10, 1952 in Queens, N.Y. a son of the late Frank and Frances Durkin Zerbe. He was a graduate of Uniondale High School of Uniondale, N.Y. Michael then enlisted in the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country for 21 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1992. While stationed in England, Michael was introduced to Jean Bingham and on April 20, 1974 the two were united in marriage, in a ceremony which took place in England. In January of 1998, Michael accepted a position with the Con-Med Corporation of Utica, where he worked until officially retiring in 2017. Michael was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jean Zerbe, Rome; a daughter, Claire Zerbe, Rome; a son, Steven Zerbe and fiancée, Kristen Boshart, Rome; two brothers, Edward Zerbe, Long Island, Harry and Maddy Zerbe, PA; two sisters, Anna and Frank Baptiste, Yonkers, Frances Ferrizz (Thomas Poetsch) Long Island; three grandchildren, Emily Zerbe, Devyn Zerbe and Tylyn Boshart; several nieces and nephews. Michael was predeceased by two brothers, Butch and Kevin Zerbe. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America 801 Eighteenth Street NW Washington, DC 20006-3517 Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, December 1, 2018, from 3-4 P.M. at Strong- Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. Military Honors will take place at 4:00 P.M. at the funeral Home .Funeral services are private.
