Obituary of Eileen Foley Dowd

Please share a memory of Eileen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Eileen Foley Dowd died peacefully on Wednesday morning, November 14, 2018. She was predeceased by her parents, Ruth and Francis Foley and her sister, Margaret. She leaves her son, Daniel. Eileen and her family are deeply indebted to her cousin, Doreen Treonze, for the loyalty, compassion and love shown during a long illness. Likewise, her caregivers Linda, Chrissy, Reanna, Sue, Melissa and others on the third floor at Bethany Gardens showed a seldom seen level of compassion and kindness. Eileen was a lifelong resident of Rome; a graduate of AHN, retiree of RDC and member of St Mary's Church. She was also an animal lover and fierce advocate for their humane treatment, welfare and rights. Consistent with her beliefs, those wishing to remember her are asked to consider a donation to SPRING FARM CARES ( 3364 State Route 12, Clinton NY 13323 or online at http://www. springfarmcares.org) She and her family will match your generosity. You can also remember her by just looking out for dogs and cats....maybe rescue one and experience the unique human-animal bond. Services and burial are private and you can leave an online remembrance at strong-burnsandsprock.com In the words of Eileen's favorite literary character ".......and so I have nothing to fear; and here my story ends. My troubles are all over, and I am at home." She hoped to cross the Rainbow Bridge....and we hope she did. Arrangements by Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home, 7751 Merrick Road, Rome.
