Obituary of Richard J. Brown

Richard J. "Dick" Brown Jr., 65, passed away September 22, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 5, 1953 in Rome, the son of the late Richard J. and Mary (Fiorini) Brown Sr. Dick served his country in the US Army. He worked for Griffiss Air Force Base and at Quantico before retiring from Birnie Bus as the best coach driver they ever had. He was married to Patricia Howard in 1994. The couple shared many years of friendship and love. Dick loved to socialize with friends in his man cave garage. He is survived by his wife Patty; seven children, Mary Brown, Cindy Brown, Richard Brown, Aaron and Claire Brown, Matthew Martin, Joseph Martin and Todd and Julie Martin; two sisters, April LaGrange and June and Tom McCarthy; eleven beloved grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and his best friends, TJ LaBeouf and Karen Cooper. A celebration of life will be held at 4pm on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home, 7751 Merrick Rd, Rome. All are invited to call from 3-4pm prior to the celebration. The family thanks Tina and Elana – Dick's best advocates, the 3rd floor nurses at Rome Hospital for all their care, especially Terry and also Dr. Richard Cherney and Ann Roman and Staff.
