Marcia Louise Wiggins Thomas of Rome, NY went to Heaven on September 14, 2018 after a brief illness. Marcia was born on February 13, 1946 in Erie, Pennsylvania to Robert Howe Wiggins and Ruth Moore Wiggins. Marcia graduated from Tech Memorial High School in Erie, PA, majoring in Business and went on to graduate from the State University of New York with a Bachelor Degree in Business and minors in Economics and Sociology. She was working on her Master's degree when she was forced to retire due to declining health. Marcia was employed by Honeywell and several other large corporations around the country as a purchaser in the Top Secret Aero Space Industry. Her work took her too many parts of the USA and Central America. After retiring, Marcia moved to Rome, NY where she has lived for the last several years. She has been employed part time at the Turning Stone Resort Casino and has donated her spare time to counseling the needy around the community and in the prison system. Marcia was a loving mother of two daughters and found great joy in being around and talking about her grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her both of her parents and one granddaughter Lindsey Helene Mae Nelson. Marcia is survived by her brother James Wiggins (Mary Lou) of Waynesville, NC. , her daughter Kristin Thomas Nelson Yearby (John) of North Chesterfield, VA, grandsons Kenneth Nelson of Erie, PA and Robert Nelson (Serena) of Rome, her daughter Ericka Thomas Neiner (James) and grandchildren Zackary and Brooke all of Richmond, VA. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 10:00A.M. at Strong- Burns & Sprock Funeral Home, located at 7751 Merrick Rd., Rome, NY 13440 In lieu of flowers we request that memorials be given to your local Alcohol Anonymous under her name.
