Obituary of Janet C. Cole

Janet C. Cole Janet C. Cole, 96, of Rome, passed away on April 19, 2018, at Rome Memorial Hospital. She was born on November 9, 1921, in Elmira, NY, a daughter of the late George and Elsie Cory Craig. Janet was a graduate of Southside High School in Elmira, she continued her education at Elmira College, where she earned degree in education. On April 5, 1947, Janet was united in marriage to John Robert Cole, Jr. at the Park Church in Elmira. John predeceased Janet on June 15, 1990. Janet was a member of the New London Methodist Church, Past Matron of Vesta Chapter, OES, a member of the Westlanders Senior Citizens of Westmoreland, and the Westmoreland Grange. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John Robert Cole III and wife Joanne, Liberty Township, OH; two daughters, Roberta Cole Lader, Rome and Marcia Jordan, Chicago; six grandchildren, Matthew and Christopher Lader, Robert and Brian Cole, David and Michael Jordan; six great grandchildren, Emily, James, Alli, Mary, Jonathan, and Eli Lader. Janet was predeceased by two brothers, Wilmot and George Craig. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome with Pastor Bryce Baldwin officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 1-2 PM prior to the service. Interment will take place in Raymond Hill Cemetery, Carmel, N.Y.
