Dora “Joyce” (Fields) Brady

1938 – 2024

 

Dora “Joyce” Brady, 85, of Rome, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Rome Health. She was born in Summitville, Ohio on September 21, 1938, daughter of the late Thomas and Nina Grey Fields. Dora graduated high school in Salineville, Ohio. On April 01, 1962, she married David D. Brady in Elyria, Ohio, a blessed union of nearly 62 years. Dora was employed as a clerk for McLaughlin’s Department Store in Waterville, N.Y. The family also owned and operated AAA Pic & pay Lumber, for many years. She was a member of Skyline Baptist Church in Floyd, N.Y. Joyce had a love for flowers and also loved to spend her spare time crafting. Her ideas and projects were endless, and she found the most joy in hosting her friends to showcase her projects. Joyce will also be remembered for her kindness and hospitality she showed towards her friends and members of her Church.

Surviving besides her husband David, are two sons; David D. Brady, Jr, of Rome, and James D. Brady, of New Hartford, as well as five grandchildren; Heather Brady, Cate Brady, Jill Martingano, Parker Harvell, and Benjamin C. Brady. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Nina Fields, two sons; Mark A. Brady, and Thomas C. Brady, two sisters; Jean Toalston, and Norma Wilms, as well as a brother, Jack Fields.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday February 26, 2024 at 6:00 p.m., at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home, 7751 Merrick Rd., Rome, N.Y. Family and friends are invited to call from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the funeral home, prior to the service. Burial will take place in Stanwix Cemetery, at a later date.
