Linda R. Schwendeman

   Linda R. Schwendeman 67, of Rome passed away unexpectedly on December 27, 2023, at Rome Health following a brief illness. She was born on December 29, 1955, in Rome, N.Y., a daughter of the late Joseph Julius Babis and Vincenza Del Pozza. Linda served her country by proudly enlisting in the United States Army. Following her enlistment, Linda attended Mohawk Valley Community College where she earned an Associate's degree. Linda was formerly united in marriage to Robert Powell Sr.; she then went on to marry Walter Schwendeman. She was a talented artist and writer of poetry. Linda also enjoyed spending time in her garden tending to her plants.  Prior to her retirement Linda was employed by Basement Waterproofing of Rome.

   She is survived by a daughter, Angela Cook; four sons, Robert Powell (Bonnie Jo), Adrian Schwendeman (April), Jerry Schwendeman (Judy) and Jacob Schwendeman (Mykalia); twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  Linda was predeceased by her husband, Walter Schwendeman; a brother, Joseph Babis and son-in-law, William Cook Jr.

   Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, January 3, 3023, from 4 to 6 P.M. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome.
