Beverly Rhae Whitehurst

Beverly Rhae Whitehurst 93, of Rome, passed away peacefully at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown on December 26, 2023, following a brief illness. She was born on December 21, 1930, in Rome, N.Y., a daughter of the late Richard H. and Sarah Mae Smith Marshall. Beverly was united in marriage to John H. Whitehurst. John predeceased Beverly in death on March 6, 1997. Beverly was formerly employed by D.D.S.O. (Developmental Disabilities Service Organization) of Rome as a Residential Aid prior to her retirement. She was an active member of the New Hope Baptist Church of Rome.

Beverly is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly A. Marshall of Rome, Michelle and Richard Yearby of Florida; two sons and daughter-in-law, Steven L. and Mary Marshall of Florida, Todd A. Marshall of Rome; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Donna Marshall of Chicago; eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by four sisters, Audrey, Lois, Ruth, and Thelma Marshall; and seven brothers, Paul, Harvey, Gerald, Walter, Elsworth, Robert and Richard Marshall.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, January 5, 2024, from 2 to 4 P.M. and the funeral services at 4:00 – 5:00 at Strong -Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome, NY 13440.
