Obituary of Lois A. Mitchell

Lois A. Mitchell, 97, formerly of Holland Patent, NY passed away at The Sunset Nursing Home in Boonville, NY on July 26, 2023. Born in Rome, NY on September 1, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Herman and Edith Shaler Snyder. Lois was educated in the Rome Schools, following graduation she had a successful career as a dictating machine transcriber at Marcy State Hospital.

Lois enjoyed time spent with family and friends, especially time spent with her son Gary. Lois was a member of the Assembly of God Church of Marcy where she enjoyed fellowship and friendship for many years.

Lois is survived by her son, Gary A. Mitchell of Boonville, NY; her brother, Lawrence (Gloria) Snyder of Rome, NY; a sister, Janet Heldman of Holland Patent; sister-in-law, Ruth Snyder of Newport, NC; She was predeceased by her sisters, Beverly J. Kingsbury, Shirley L. Dempsey; brother, Rev. William Snyder; former husband Robert L. Mitchell.

Calling hours will be held Monday, July 31, 2023 from 10:00am-12:00pm at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home, 7751 Merrick Road, Rome, NY 13440. A funeral service will be held following calling hours. Burial will take place at the Floyd Cemetery.
